Details and consistency are killing the Jacksonville Jaguars from the edge under the helmet of quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
“Everyone is more consistent, myself included,” Lawrence said Wednesday afternoon in London.
Jacksonville is the home team this week against the New England Patriots (1-5) as they complete a two-game homestand after losing 35-16 to the Chicago Bears last week.
The Jaguars went 1-5 in 2023 to fall out of playoff contention and began 2024 with the same record. The lone win was a 37-34 shootout against the Indianapolis Colts on October 6th.
“Quite honestly, the last couple of years when we haven’t played well — just the inconsistency from me or anybody at any given time. You’re never going to be perfect, just do your job,” Lawrence said.
With the team’s first interception of the season last week, Jacksonville has just three total possessions while allowing 21 touchdowns. They have a total of seven giveaways, which Lawrence believes is what really hurts the Jaguars.
“Take care of the ball. Try to have a turnover-free game on Sunday. That’s the biggest part of this game, taking care of the ball,” Lawrence said. “That’s the biggest indicator of winning or losing. How many turnovers you have, how many (takeaways) you have defensively. Those things go hand in hand. You have to [be] better with it as an offence.’
